About Me —
Hi, I’m Michaela Leggett — your on-air coach, newsroom big sister, and the person who’s going to help you actuallybreak into the industry.
I graduated from North Carolina A&T State University with a degree in Mass Media Journalism, and in 2020 I landed my first MMJ job at WRBL News 3 in Columbus, Georgia. There, I covered everything from crime and politics to military stories at Fort Moore — truly getting thrown into the fire in the best way.
After a little over a year in Georgia, I came back home to the Triad as the lead reporter at ABC 45 News, where I had the incredible opportunity to interview North Carolina icons like Magic Johnson and Tabitha Brown live.
From there, I headed to the Upstate as a reporter at FOX Carolina, serving as the morning reporter before transitioning to day-side. I’ve chased breaking news, told community stories, covered major events, and lived the real MMJ grind across multiple states and markets.
Today, I work in communications — but my love for news, storytelling, and helping the next generation of reporters shine is stronger than ever. Over the years, I’ve helped countless students find their voice on camera, build professional reels, craft strong news packages, and step into real newsroom opportunities. I’ve mentored students at North Carolina A&T State University, including success stories like Bilyana Garland, who landed her first job after our coaching and is already thriving at her second station in a Top-40 market.
With my coaching, hands-on experience, and industry insight, I can help you level up your storytelling, develop your on-air presence, and secure your first news job — confidently and quickly.
Let’s get you on air.
